Golden Millet 2 Acres

Golden Millet is a super-quick growing, popular food source for waterfowl. In 60-70 days, your spot can be a feeding ground for migrating teal and mallards.  Golden Millet can be ideal for those plots next to lowlands and flooded waterways that stay too wet deep into the early summer.  In the south, you can usually plant up to September and still produce seeds in time to attract migrating birds.

In the Midwest, plant between mid-July and mid-August. In the south, you can plant until early September. Golden Millet can also be paired with any of our corn varieties to build extra attraction for your migrating birds.

Start with a firm weed-free seed bed.  Broadcast 25 lbs. per acre into moist soil at a 1/4 inch depth. At the 5 leaf stage, it is recommended that you apply 1.5 oz of AIM and 1.8 oz of Karate per acre.  Fertilize with 150 lbs. of 19-19-19 per acre. Plants can receive a flood at a 6-inch height.
